La Vallée de Ferney is a nature reserve of 200 hectares that aims to preserve the unique biodiversity of the native forest of Mauritius. The Nature Reserve will attract you in right from the start with a visit to the splendid coffee plantation and its museum.
 
La Vallée de Ferney is an excellent spot to discover the flora and fauna of Mauritius and enjoy quality time by yourself or with your friends and family in a highly serene setting.
 
While exploring the nature reserve, you will get to admire endemic trees like the Latania Loddigesii (Latanier bleu or Latanier de l'île Ronde), a unique species of the palm tree. You will also have the amazing opportunity of encountering and feeding the Mauritius kestrel, the only falcon species living on the island. Plus, a guided hike to Bambou Mountain from Vallée de Ferney will allow you to enjoy the wonderful picturesque surroundings.

 

A lunch will be available at Le Falaise rouge restaurant , where you will be able to enjoy a delicious meal by picking from a selection of tasteful dishes that will surely delight your taste buds. The restaurant provides an excellent choice of dishes from a typically Mauritian menu, including local produce such as venison, chicken and fish. (optional)

A visit to Ferney forest reserve entails a trek on-foot of 3 km long which can last up to 1hr30.Staff are equally present all along the track for non-guided visits for which the Vallee de Ferney transport ensures transfers of visitors from the Visitors’ Centre to the Valley every 25-30 minutes. Usual safety measures pertain to the use of adapted walking shoes, use of mosquito repellent, drinking plenty of water during the trek, keeping mobiles and pagers off when in the forest, no littering and no damaging to the animals and plants. Plant adopters will also have the opportunity of seeing their adopted trees in their natural setting.

After a guided walk of 3 km and a stop at the Bamboo Waterfall, where you will discover nature and its history. It's wonderful to enjoy this show on the island. The  pair of kestrel Pepito and Pépita feeds by hand to noon by th guide waltzing from a tree to the other.
 
A lunch will be available at the restaurant, ' Le Falaise rouge" which provides a selection of Mauritian cuisine.
Facing the bay of Grand Port, between woods, cliffs and valleys, savor a succulent meal composed of local specialties while enjoying panorama of the lagoon and islands of the Southeast.
